Timothy L. Strader Sr. – Founder and Chairman

Tim Strader Sr., the founder and Chairman of Starpointe Ventures, has 48 years of experience in real estate development and investment. He was one of the ten Koll Company partners from 1972 to 1983, involved in all day-to-day development management. In this capacity, he participated in the development of over 10 million square feet of industrial, office and retail properties in California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona, including Koll Center Newport, Koll Center Irvine, Fox Hills Business Center, and Carlsbad Research Center.

In 1984, he formed The Legacy Companies, which developed 298,000 square feet of office in Irvine and Aliso Viejo; 620,000 square feet of industrial in the Inland Empire and Florida; 269,000 square feet of research and development in Irvine Spectrum in joint venture with The Irvine Company; and 840 apartment units in Corona, Chino Hills and Lake Elsinore.

Mr. Strader serves on numerous boards and foundations and was appointed as a member of the California State Contractors’ License Board by Governor Wilson from 1995 to 1999. Mr. Strader also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University California Irvine Paul Merage School of Business where he taught a graduate course entitled Management of the Real Estate Enterprise. The name of The Legacy Companies was changed to Starpointe Ventures in 1999.

Tim Strader Jr., President of Starpointe Ventures, has 31 years of experience in commercial and residential real estate entitlement, development, acquisition and marketing. Since joining Starpointe Ventures in 2000, he has successfully supervised the entitlement of 12,697 residential units, 5 million square feet of commercial uses and 1,750 hotel rooms, primarily in the Irvine Business Complex. He has also brokered the sale of 1.8 million square feet of transferable development rights and the sale of 75 acres of land totaling in excess of $346 million.

He started his career in 1989 at CB Commercial Real Estate Group (now CBRE) specializing in office leasing and sales in South Orange County. In 1996, he joined Heitman Properties becoming Vice-President of Leasing for Griffin Towers in Santa Ana and Century Park Plaza in Century City. In 1998, he joined Opus West Corporation as Director of Real Estate Development. In this capacity, he managed the development and marketing of 930,000 square feet of office and industrial projects in Orange County, including the 12-story Opus Center Irvine.

Tim is Past Chairman of the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Orange County, Past President of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) SoCal Chapter, Past President of the IBC Consortium and current board member of KidWorks.

Patrick B. Strader – CEO

Patrick B. Strader, Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel for Starpointe Ventures has over two decades of real estate experience. He has a B.S. in Political Science from UCLA and a J.D. with a certificate in High Technology Law from the Santa Clara University School of Law. Prior to his legal career, Patrick worked as a commercial construction superintendent, asset manager at a large multifamily complex, and leasing associate for a major L.A. retail brokerage firm.

Patrick's real estate experience as a licensed attorney has run the gamut from representing both buyers and sellers in residential and commercial transactions to forming and structuring business entities to hold and invest in real property.  In addition, he has litigated numerous cases and prevailed in a complex summary judgment on a specific performance and breach of contract lawsuit resulting from a cancelled escrow for the purchase and sale of redevelopment property.

 At Starpointe Ventures, Patrick has successfully obtained approval of many General Plan Amendments, Zone Changes, Conditional Use Permits, Master Plans, Tentative Tract Maps, Park Plans, EIRs, Affordable Housing Plans, and other discretionary approvals.  He has supervised the approvals of over 8,000 residential units in the Irvine Business Complex (IBC), all of the entitlements for the Great Park Neighborhoods since 2007, several projects in Newport Beach, and the former LA Times Printing site in Costa Mesa.

Patrick was a member of the inaugural class of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group and the Leadership Tomorrow Class of 2005 through the Chambers of Commerce of Irvine, Newport Beach, and Costa Mesa.  Patrick served on the Board of Directors of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce for 7 years and Chaired the Government Affairs Committee, on the Board of Governors of the Irvine Valley College Foundation, and the Board of Directors of the Irvine Children's Fund.  Additionally, he served as a Board Member of the Building Industry Association (BIA) for 6 years.

Patrick was selected as a National Emerging Leader in Real Estate by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) in 2006.

He was selected as one of the "40 Under 40" Honorees by OC Metro Magazine in 2012.

Patrick was selected as founding Board Member of the Irvine Community Land Trust in 2007 and has served continuously since then.  The Trust has purchased or developed 475 units of permanent affordable housing.  See https://www.irvineclt.org/quick-facts for more information.

Patrick regularly lectures on entitlement issues to many groups including the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, NAIOP, and UCI Merage Graduate School of Management were he was a Lecturer for a Graduate-level course on Management of the Real Estate Enterprise for 8 years.
